NaPoWriMo 2012 - Introducion

INTRODUCTION
Welcome to National Poetry Writing Month (in America and Canada) 2012, Yes it's that time of year again, and I've just signed up on Maureen's site, it would be fun if you could join in the action too!
THIRTY POEMS
The idea is to write a poem-a-day for the thirty days of April. You can publish them on your blog and submit the post to any number of prompt sites.
HAIKU HEIGHTS
One site I know of that is offering prompts this year is Haiku Heights, so if you fancy writing all Haiku, or just the odd one, this site is definitely worth a look!
MY FOURTH YEAR
This is my fourth year as a participant on NaPoWriMo and you can read all my previous work on this blog, simply scroll down the sidebar on SweetTalkingGuy.. and you'll find my daily entries for 2009, 2010, and 2011.
HAIKU CHALLENGE
I also did The Haiku Heights Haiku challenge last September, and more recently I took part in The February Haiku Challenge at Few Miles. You can check my entries in the sidebar.

THREE BLIND MICE - BA BUM
Three blind mice - three blind mice - ba bum
See how they run, see how they run
They're hiding from the farmer's wife
They've heard she's got a carving knife

To cut off their tails just for fun
Three blind mice - three blind mice - ba bum
It really really wasn't fun
If you knew half the things she's done

When she finds them - more than blinds them
And never mind the carving knife
Three blind mice - three blind mice - ba bum
She burnt them at the stake for fun

Their only crime was religion
Her father Henry rocked the boat
And Mary quite contrary joked
Three blind mice - three blind mice - ba bum

I'm waiting for inspiration

I try to baffle it with words
Big words that you can write backwards

Like Wassamassaw or someplace
I'm waiting for inspiration
But time is running out fast now
The stats are messing with my brain

You can't negate illness for long
I've been in denial for four years

Hold the operation I'm scared

Fingers with rings bells on her toes
Music plays wherever she goes

Up the hill to Banbury Cross

And she doesn't care for the stares
Her carriage is stuck in the mud
Up the hill to Banbury Cross
The wheel is broken in two

But she can't wait she's got a date
To inspect the cross in the square
So off she trots on a white horse
Up the hill to Banbury Cross

Where could they be where would they go

I saw this post on Mad Kane's blog earlier and I thought,
this is right up my street, so I'm going to give it a whirl.
WRITER'S DIGEST
Writer's Digest are running a competition of sorts on their bloggage, I tried to join once, as you have to be a member to post on their site, but I don't have cookies or I eat the wrong sort of biscuits or something, but try as I might they won't let me join, so I'll settle for a chocolate digestive instead, and post my piece here.
UPDATE
Okay, I think I've finally managed to join the Writer's Digest site, my comment hasn't come up yet, but I finally managed to log in and out. They've got some good stuff over there, so I reckon they're well worth a look. I just hope you don't have as much trouble as I did signing up.

Haiku Challenge 2012 - Conclusion

Haiku Challenge
This has been a learning curve for most of us, and a very enjoyable one. It was good to meet new blogging friends and to reacquaint with others from previous challenges. Some of the prompts were tough, but that's what a challenge is about. It was good to be stretched a little and to have to think about subjects that we wouldn't normally write about.
FUTURE
I'll be adding a few things to this post over the next couple of weeks. I believe SiS (Someone is Special) is going to hand out some prizes to different challengers, I'll tell you more about this when I find out myself.
